Giving Something Back...

By donating to sport, you will leave a legacy to our children and future generations, you’ll show leadership, and you’ll be helping to build a great community to live in. Best of all, you’ll be able to return something to a cause that has provided you with so many benefits.

How can I give?

There are several gift-giving options that suit all income levels and degrees of commitment:

  • Cash donations — either one time, monthly, or annual contributions
  • Planned gifts — such as life insurance, bequests, gift annuities
  • Gifts in kind — such as real estate, listed securities, or tangible properties

Partnership Opportunity

If you would like to be a partner with the Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Legacy Fund, please contact Executive Director Cameron McBeth at 604-580-8885 ext. 222

What is Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Legacy Fund (KALF)?

The Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Legacy Fund is a gift-giving program established for the continued and future development of amateur sport in Surrey. It encourages those who have benefited from sport, or who believe in the value of sport, to give something back for current and future generations. Amateur sport needs your help!

Background

Kla-how-eya developed a 2010 Steering Committee January 2007 due to increased community enquires about what Kla-how-eya’s involvement will be in the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympics Games. The Kla-how-eya 2010 Steering Committee had its first meeting January 19, 2007 and as a result of the meeting the Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Legacy Fund (KALF) was formed.

KALF Vision and Mission Statement

Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Centre of SACS engages and involves Aboriginal Peoples, before during and beyond the 2010 Winter Olympic Games by forming “Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Legacy Fund” for the benefit of Aboriginal Youth Athletes Entertainers and Entrepreneurs. The range of engagement and involvement will vary, with priority being established by the Kla-how-eya 2010 Steering Committee and Aboriginal communities with consultations and workshops.

Kla-how-eya Aboriginal Legacy Fund Goals & Objectives:

  1. Provide guidance and support to Aboriginal athletes with the best potential for local, regional, provincial, national and international success

  2. Promote positive impact on the quality of people’s lives. Sports and recreation promote positive lifestyles, develop individual life-skills, encourage youth leadership, and reinforce family and cultural values. For these reasons, Kla-how-eya refers to sport and recreation as powerful medicine, because they can prevent many of the social ills facing Aboriginal peoples, and foster community healing

  3. Establish and promote personal excellence through sport, support the holistic development of Aboriginal athletes and coaches and remind their supporters and sponsors that the life skills and experience obtained through athletic preparation, competition and teamwork are the most valuable agents of positive social change and unity through peaceful cooperation and respect

  4. Create strategic partnerships that are committed to improving the quality and efficiency of delivering services to Aboriginal members, athletes and coaches in the Province of British Columbia. It will also continually develop new services for the future so our athletes can work, train and live to be their very best.

  5. Committed to working closely in a cooperative and mutually supportive manner with a diverse group of organizations that comprise the British Columbia Aboriginal Athletic and Sporting Community in order to participate fully in the BC Aboriginal Athletic Movement. These organizations all play an integral role by supporting athletes and coaches, and promoting excellence through sport.
